The five things
people ask first
What Ardyaveda is, what the doshas actually mean, who you are talking to when you consult a Vaidya, and what any of it costs. Answered plainly, once.
- What is Ardyaveda?
- Ardyaveda is an Ayurvedic lifestyle companion. It identifies your Prakriti — your constitutional make-up of Vata, Pitta and Kapha — in a free five-minute assessment, then personalises everything that follows: dosha-specific meal plans, seasonal Ritucharya routines, movement prescribed at half strength, daily Pariksha check-ins, and consultations with verified Vaidyas by chat, voice or video. Its guidance is drawn from classical sources — the Charaka Samhita, Ashtanga Hridayam and Sushruta Samhita — rather than general wellness advice. Take the free assessment
- What are Vata, Pitta and Kapha — and how do I know which one I am?
- They are the three doshas: the functional principles Ayurveda uses to describe a body. Vata (air and space) governs movement, circulation and nervous energy; out of balance it shows as anxiety, dryness and irregularity. Pitta (fire and water) governs digestion, metabolism and focus; out of balance, acidity, inflammation and irritability. Kapha (earth and water) governs structure, stamina and immunity; out of balance, heaviness, congestion and inertia. Almost nobody is a single dosha — most people are a pair, in a ratio that is theirs for life. Ardyaveda's free assessment identifies yours in five minutes. Read about the three doshas
- Can I consult a real Ayurvedic doctor on Ardyaveda?
- Yes. A Vaidya is a classically trained Ayurvedic physician, and every Vaidya on Ardyaveda is identity-verified before they can take a single consultation. You can consult by text, voice or video, either instantly or at a scheduled time, and the Vaidya sees your Prakriti, your recent check-ins and your current imbalances before the call begins — so the conversation starts from your actual history rather than from a blank form. - What is free on Ardyaveda, and what costs money?
- The Prakriti assessment is free and needs no card. So are your Prakriti Card, daily Pariksha check-ins, the Ask Ardya companion, and Sangha, the community. What costs money is what has a person or a product behind it: consultations with a Vaidya, premium meal planning, and anything ordered from the Apothecary. You can use Ardyaveda indefinitely without paying — the free tier is the product, not a trial. Start free
- Is Ardyaveda a replacement for medical treatment?
- No, and it is not designed to be. Ardyaveda offers supportive Ayurvedic lifestyle guidance — food, routine, movement, sleep — that sits alongside modern medical care rather than in place of it. It does not diagnose disease and does not tell anyone to stop a prescribed medication. For anything acute, or for a condition already under treatment, see a qualified medical practitioner; our Vaidyas work with that care, not around it. Where the evidence stands
